There are not many Alpine valleys that offer such a diverse range of hiking trails and tracks as the Ziller Valley. Our central location in Kaltenbach, which is situated right in the middle of the Ziller Valley, (liegt ist – Komma nach liegt) is just one of the advantages our hiking guests can expect. You can start exploring the valley and its side-arms from our doorstep; if you need a break you have a choice of numerous cosy huts. A bit further on you can visit the Inntal or the Achental with its lake Achensee or hike in its Rofangebirge mountains, both of which are easily accessible from Kaltenbach. The granite Zentralalpen massif in the Ziller Valley is in stark contrast to the Rofangebirge, which is part of the Limestone Alps. Upon request we will happily inform you about different hiking trails or put you in touch with a certified mountain guide or mountaineering school.
The strong current of the Ziller river and its side-arms are made for adventurous explorations. You can either sign up for a guided canyoning tour – by foot – or conquer the white-water in a raft and under the watchful eyes of a certified guide. Either way you can be sure to have an adrenaline-fuelled adventure.
Test your climbing talents in the high rope course in Kaltenbach or at one of the many via ferratas throughout the Ziller Valley. Bad weather? Not a problem – just visit the indoor climbing area close to the hotel and improve your abilities.
Are you looking for an alternative to hiking? Why not sign up for a guided monster-roller tour or ascend the mountain on the back of a bike? You have the choice between a sporty mountain bike and the more comfortable e-bike, which has seen a surge in popularity over the last view years. This comes as no surprise – after all you can explore even higher altitudes with a minimum of effort. We suggest a combination of both cycling and hiking – get to the starting point of your hike on two wheels before carrying on to the next hut or a peak on foot. Just come and talk to us if you have any questions concerning cycling and mountain- or e-bike rentals.
If you want to get higher than the highest peaks we recommend paragliding. Complete a course or sign up for a tandem flight and take in the valley from a bird’s perspective. Please note that this is not for the faint at heart.
